Hidden Collection - (2) (2018)

As an implication of the consequence of reacting to the outside world, ‘Hidden Collection – (2)’ projects an inner struggle in terms of constructed / imposed identities and the authentic narratives of the chosen objects. that are linked with authentic stories and interpreted narratives, being put into pendants, a traditional form of adornment that is used to cherish a piece of the past or private thoughts. While the act of wearing is a choice to perform an identity, hiding it under the obscurity from the viewer shows an internal struggle of the wearer. ‘Hidden Collection - (2)’ turns jewellery-wearing, which is, traditionally, a way to construct social identity, a symbol of status, power and firm beliefs, into a critical instrument. The obscurity created by the pendant has provoked a critical re-appraisal of the objects of recent times.
