As part of my research, ‘only those we’ve encountered, existed.’ is an experiment on how stories are made, told and received. An on-going record of Facebook posts composed by users (Friends) who would appear on my News Feed, which I have read from mid-January 2018 to present, is bound into a physical book, encompassing the enormities of ‘published’ contents, the ephemeral trace of the process of identity formation, into physicality, in a traditional form of circulating text. While reading was once an intimate and personal activity, ‘only those we encountered, existed.’ supplies a contrast between the traditional and contemporary format of story-telling, questioning the way technology shape our consciousness.
